“Bear Bryant's Three Rules for coaching:
1) Surround yourself with people who can't live without football.
2) Recognize winners. They come In all forms.
3) Have a plan for everything.”
~Bear Bryant

“You've got to earn it. You can't count on other people to do your job for you.”
~ Herm Edwards

TEAMWORK CAN BE SUMMED UP IN FIVE SHORT WORDS.....
WE BELIEVE IN EACH OTHER.

You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others.
That's the mark of a true professional.
~Joe Paterno

Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world.
Set a goal and don't quit until you attain it.
When you do attain it, set another goal, and don't quit until you reach it.
Never quit.
~Bear Bryant

THE GREEN HOPE FOOTBALL PLEDGE

Individual and team success in sports results from commitment. The extent to which young athletes are able to make such commitments reflects their maturity as well as their dedication to family, friends, school, and team. I, as your Head Coach, have made similar kind of commitment. You will receive a copy of it. For these reason, we ask you to read and agree to the following

PLEDGE:

AS A FALCON I WILL:

Grow spiritually, academically, physically
Provide leadership to my team, school, community (comments about being a role model)
Be accountable (comments: if player is late to class your team will do extra workouts.)
Never let teammates down

Injuries, Treatment and the Training Room –

1. Report all injuries.

2. Get treatment when ordered and required.

3. All injured athletes and parents should consult the trainer before seeing your family physician.

AS A FOOTBALL PLAYER AT GREEN HOPE HIGH SCHOOL, I PROMISE:

To be a worthy representative of my teammates and coaches, abiding by school and community expectations of my behavior and reflecting my team’s values of commitment and hard work.

To maintain my health and fitness level by following the training rules as prescribed by the football team.

To reflect the knowledge that a commitment to victory is nothing without the commitment to hard work in practice.

To attend every practice unless excused by my coach.

To understand that my future as a responsible adult relates more to my academic than my athletic activities.

Attendance to practice –

(BE ON TIME!)

To find the time to satisfy my family relationships and responsibilities.

To accept the responsibilities of team membership:
Cooperation, support of my teammates, shared responsibilities, positive interaction, and mutual respect.

To reflect good communication by expressing my feelings and ideas intelligently and appropriately.

To reflect my belief that true strength involves gentleness and that even the toughest athlete is sensitive to others.

To behave in a way that is consistent with the philosophy that winners don’t brag and losers don’t make excuses.

2. Discussion of any concerns, etc. about your athlete or the program will only be conducted after an appointment has been made, and will occur at an appropriate time and place. *NO parent/athlete meetings will be conducted at practice, at contests, or outside the school.

3. Concerns about playing time, an athlete’s progress, etc. should be discussed with a position coach first. IF the parent is still not satisfied, after the discussion with their athlete’s coach, then the Head Coach will be available to answer any questions.

4. Remember proper communication will be the key to successful interaction between coaches, athletes, parents, community and the GHHS family.
